Note di degustazione
The 1995 Brunello di Montalcino exhibits an evolved, dark ruby/garnet color, surprising levels of tannin, and a backward personality. The notions of damp forest, mushrooms, strawberries, and cherries are moderately intense in this restrained, structured, muscular Brunello di Montalcino. While there is good richness and depth, the tannin is aggressive. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring, and consume it over the following 10-12 years. Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. Fresh, dark ruby color. Full, ripe aromas of plum and chocolate complemented by light, spicy oak. Velvety, rich and sweet on the palate; at once soft and intensely flavored. Finishes with outstanding persistence. Notably different from past Brunellos from this house, which were always characterized by elegance. Here the wine is fuller and more concentrated without any roughness or loss of balance. The estate belongs to a large Italian insurance company, SAI, which also owns the Fattoria del Cerro in Montepulciano and Colpetrone in Umbria.
