Note di degustazione
The 2012 Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino shows the intensity of the year in its radiant, super-ripe fruit. At nearly five years of age, the 2012 is starting to show the first signs of aromatic development. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade or so. Even with all of its intensity, though, the 2012 retains a midweight sense of structure.

Rocca di Montegrossi's 2012 Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino is impressive, but it is going to need a good few years at a minimum to even start drinking well. Dense, primary and totally unevolved, the 2012 is a wine of potential at this stage. A host of dark cherry, smoke, plum and flowers gradually opens up in the glass. Vertical in build and concentrated on the palate, the 2012 has huge upside for those who can wait.
