The 2014 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru was a little anonymous on the nose when I tasted it, obviously not coming out to play! The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well-judged acidity and quite a sensual finish for a Latricières. This has good potential, although it does not shrug off this vineyard predilection for being stubbornly foursquare and conservative.

Medium red. Aromas of coffee and smoke, plus a suggestion of marc de Châteauneuf-du-Pape . Supple and thick but withdrawn in the early going, offering mocha, mint and earth flavors and a strong salty element. Very tactile, soil-inflected wine but not sweet or fruity today. The tannins are smooth and nicely integrated but this grand cru comes across as a bit disjointed today.
