Smell like raspberry wine gums. A big step up in alcohol from the Beaune Clos du Roi, and you can really feel it. Also very tannic. Power without mercy. Those tannins are chewing up the saliva leaving bitterness in the length. Massive structure here. You'll need to wait. (TC)

The 2023 Beaune Clos des Marconnets 1er Cru comes across a little baked on the nose and lacks the freshness of the Clos du Roi. The palate is sweet with red cherries and strawberry fruit, but it feels a bit labored on the finish.
