Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2027-2044, Kristaps Karklins, Wine Advocate, Jan 2026

The 2023 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume, sourced from a 3.6-hectare, clay-rich, south-facing parcel at the bottom of the slope in Vaulorent, opens with aromas of orange peel, white flowers and oyster shell. Medium- to full-bodied, the palate is fleshy yet lively, underpinned by bright acidity and concludes with a long, saline finish. This cuvée is not produced every year.

Cask/tank sample. Floral note and quite broad in the beam. Masses of fruit! Almost opulent. (JR)

Ripe aromas are comprised by pronounced petrol, citrus confit, mineral reduction and just enough Chablis typicity to be convincing. The rich, generously proportioned and delicious medium weight flavors also possess a seductive texture while concluding in a very citrusy finish. I like the texture and overall sense of harmony but this too needs more depth. Drink 2029+

The 2023 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru comes from a selection made from eight parcels on marl soils. That comes through on the nose: quite stern, more austere than Fèvre's other cuvées, perhaps one for those who like a bit of meanness in their Chablis. The palate is well balanced with a touch of reduction on the entry. It requires a little more acidic bite to develop on the finish. Fine.
