Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2027, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Aug 2017

(done entirely in oak): Pale yellow. Reticent but pure scents of pineapple, white pepper, caraway seed and crushed stone, with the oak element nicely integrated. Tactile, rich, seamless wine with a restrained sweetness to its fine-grained lemon and saline mineral flavors. Showing less volume but more inner-mouth tension than the La Réserve de L'Obédience. Best today on the fine-grained, slowly rising finish, which leaves behind a hint of nut oil. A fine-grained, relatively supple Clos, but lay it down for at least a couple more years for more complexity.

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos needs more precision and focus to come though on the nose. There are notes of green apple and chalk and a touch of dried quince in the background, although it needs to show more vigor and authority. The palate is better, with hints of toffee apple and quince on the entry, well judged acidity and flirty flecks of white peach and nutmeg toward the long finish. It actually improves with aeration and should drink well with three or four years in bottle.

Ripe apricot notes on the nose, and faint yet definite oak influence. Gorgeous creaminess on the finish, plus a salted nut aftertaste. Voluminous, flavoursome – everything you want from grand cru. (RH)

(aging entirely in barriques and larger foudres _): Pale yellow. Lively aromas of lemon, lime, dusty stone, minerals, herbs and caraway seed are high-toned and pure. Lemon and saline flavors are tactile and concentrated but quite backward, with a high level of CO2 keeping the wine under wraps today. Finishes classically dry and long, with a touch of oak giving the finish a slight bitterness.
