The 2021 Chablis Vosgros 1er Cru has a slight oatmeal scent on the nose that I suspect derives from the barrel, though it gains clarity with continued aeration. The palate is well balanced with a slightly oily texture, like Droin's Vosgros, and a fine bead of acidity, though it leans more towards a tropical style of Chablis in this cooler growing season. At least there is some precision on the finish, though it feels just a bit too honeyed in texture with a jarring bitterness. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Notes of citrus zest, flowers, oyster shell and fresh mint preface the 2021 Chablis 1er Cru Vosgros, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled wine with racy acids and a mineral, orange blossom-inflected finish.
Once again there is a plethora of Chablis elements suffusing the aromas of crushed fennel, iodine, mineral reduction, quinine and citrus confit. There is outstanding density and evident power to the larger-scaled flavors that possess plenty of sappy dry extract that also buffers the firm acid spine shaping the impressively long and complex finale. As is usually the case, this isn’t especially refined, though neither is it rustic, but the overall quality level is excellent. (91-94)/2029+
