With this bottle, we start a decade of warm vintages and stylistic wines that embrace extract and richness. The Masi 1990 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico reveals a slightly browning appearance with garnet highlights. As expected, you get a good sense of the primary fruit in this bottle, certainly when compared to the other wines in this retrospective, spanning back to 1958. In this case, that fruit recalls sweet prune, white raisin and black plum. The wine shows enduring richness and velvety tannins.
