Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2030-2050, Neal Martin, Mar 2026

The 2023 Y de Yquem has a tensile, nervous nose that leans a little towards Riesling in style, with background scents of elderflower, passion fruit and Japanese mirin that lend intrigue. Tightly coiled at first, the 2023 opens with 30 minutes in the glass. The palate is refined like its “elder brother,” distinguished by its verticality, almost aloof initially before gaining more depth. Touches of linseed and white peach are quite disarming towards the poised finish, but this will require some bottle age. Very classy.

A blend of equal parts Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon and containing six grams per liter of residual sugar, the 2023 Ygrec opens with delicate aromas of peach, white flowers and grapefruit. Moderately weighted and enveloping, it is round and supple, built around a juicy core of fruit precisely framed by fine acidity that carries through to a perfumed finish.

Gorgeous fresh aromas of white peach and pear on the nose with bright elderflower freshness. Clean and pure. Hints of citrus lemon and some toffee cinder. Instantly alive and so focussed on the palate, this is vibrant and sharp with the acidity that gives a real kick. But this slowly expands in the mouth, adding layers of complexity and richness as well as an invigorating mouthwatering aspect. Just utterly gorgeous, a really soft oiliness that is reminiscent of Sauternes with enticing elements of bitter orange and grapefruit skin. Ends a touch salty which I also adore. A funfair in a glass. A wine to sit with and just enjoy each of the aspects - saltiness, sweetness, bitterness and freshness. I love it. What more could you want in a glass of wine? 3.15pH. 6g/L residual sugar.
