Impenetrable dark ruby. Full nose of earthy cherry and concentrated, mouth-filling, suave raspberry and cherry fruit with succulent acidity and fine tannins. Fantastic balance. (WS)

The 2022 Carnasciale Botte Grandi + is the second release of this wine, in a lot that saw an additional eight months in wood. Once again, Podere Il Carnasciale's second wine delivers the goods. Bold, juicy and explosive, the 2022 races across the palate with an expressive mélange of dark cherry, plum, incense, mocha and new leather. What an absolute delight. Tasting this wine makes me wonder why this is not the standard approach for all vintages. The 2022 Carnasciale Botte Grandi + is a 2025 release that takes the place of the 2023 Carnasciale, which was not produced due to challenging conditions throughout the growing season.
