2010 Il Carnasciale IGT

The 2010 Carnasciale is striking. Black cherries, plums, grilled herbs, juniper berries and menthol literally jump from the glass. Fresh, vibrant and beautifully delineated, the 2010 impresses for its nuance. Distinctly savory, peppery notes appear on the finish. In most vintages, the Carnasciale drinks well right out of the gate, but I would be tempted to leave the 2010 in the cellar for another 2-3 years to see what might develop. There is a lot of intrigue in the glass, but it needs time to develop. Sweet floral notes add brightness and lift on the finish.
