Certified organic wine. More creamy and intense than the Ballot-Millot 2018 Bourgogne and better value. Creamy, almost toasty, with a core of crisp citrus. Slimly built around a firm backbone. (JH)

Cask sample. Bright and breezy on the nose but nicely rich and creamy on the palate. An impressive Bourgogne. (JH)
The 2016 Bourgogne Rouge is a mix of an old Volnay parcel that belonged to Hubert de Montille and some parcels acquired in 2011 across the road near the village of Corpeaux. It has a brisk nose of blackberry and raspberry fruit that is quite punchy for a generic red. The palate is firm and structured on the entry, moderate acidity with a pleasant graininess on the finish. Enjoy this upstanding generic red burgundy over the next 2 or 3 years.

Volnay’s Domaine de Montille is one of the most historic in the Côte d’Or. Founded in 1730, the property remains family-owned and run, with Etienne de Montille – the ninth generation – at the helm today.
