Cask sample. Blend of blossom and liquorice on the nose. Excellent acidity and cut even if it's still a bit light on the palate. Marked acidity gives a lime-juice impression. Very youthful and the opposite of flashy. (JR)

Opening in the glass with complex aromas of peonies, rose petals, sweet berry fruit, cinnamon and forest floor, the 2020 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses is medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant, with a deep core of fruit, bright acids, melting tannins and a long, saline finish. It's one of the high points of the range.
The 2020 Pernand-Vergelesses Ile de Vergelesses 1er Cru has 100% whole bunch. It has quite a complex bouquet with dark berry fruit, hints of cola and undergrowth, just a touch of marmalade. All quite nuanced. The palate is bright ‘n perky on the entry thanks to a fine bead of acidity, crisp red fruit, playful and vivid with just a touch of dark chocolate towards the finish.
