Lemon yellow color. Enticing aromas of lemon, orange blossom, honey and clove. Fat, lush and sweet, with good density and a slightly exotic quality to the ripe stone fruit, mango and marzipan flavors. Offers a seriously layered texture but I wanted a bit more lift and lightness of touch for grand cru.
Bright, pale yellow. Closed nose hints at wild herbs, clove and citrus fruits. Then sweet, aromatic and powerful in the mouth, if less harmonious today than the Criots-Batard. The flavors of lemon and white flowers show excellent cut and firm underlying structure, with lively ripe acidity giving the wine a light touch. Not at all hard-edged on the back, but this is nonetheless more taut than the Criots-Batard. Leaves the mouth feeling fresh.
