Mid crimson. Ripe and open and generously fruited on the nose. Firm and compact. The oak is well in check to just add a touch of spice and some polish to the texture. (JH)

The 2018 Aloxe-Corton Les Vercots 1er Cru comes from a single hectare replanted 15 years ago with Pinot Très Fin, which Nathalie Tollot told me has "looser bunches to prevent rot." It has a very pretty, quite intense bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry and wet limestone aromas that are well defined. The medium-bodied palate delivers very supple tannin and a keen line of acidity. Fresh and vibrant, with a slightly peppery and sustained finish. This is perhaps my pick of Tollot-Beaut’s Premier Crus this vintage. Excellent.
