The 2000 Amarone Mazzano is perhaps more structured than the Campolongo, yet it too exhibits fairly advanced leather, meatiness, iron and spice overtones. It does offer excellent persistence on the palate, but stylistically is an austere wine that lacks the sweetness of the Campolongo. It is best consumed over the next few years.
