The 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru has retained the plumpness on the nose that I observed from barrel, offering lovely wild strawberry and raspberry aromas. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, crisp acidity and a slightly chalky finish. Maybe just missing a little persistence, yet this remains a fine Les Lavières.

Aromas of red berries, peonies, raspberries and orange rind introduce the 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières, a medium to full-bodied wine that's floral and perfumed, with an ample core of fruit, lively acids and a precise finish. Finer-boned and more energetic than the Fourneaux that preceded it, this is very promising.
Light crimson. Not much on the nose, lightly stemmy red fruit. Light all round but all in balance. (JH)
The 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières comes from south-facing mid-slope vines on mainly limestone soils. It has a very attractive bouquet of raspberry and wild strawberry aromas, quite plump and generous, yet well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins and precise red berry fruit laden with minerals, leading to a slightly reserved but very persistent finish. This is a notch (or two) up from the Aux Fournaux at this stage.
