Cask sample. Vibrant cherry red. There's a touch of reduction at first, giving a touch of rubber, but as that blows of, the pure dark-red fruits are singing and there's a hint of Chambolle's archetypal floral perfume. Beautifully scented. This seems to have all the best traits of 2019: glorious fruit, ripe, fresh and open. Tannins are polished and still giving a firm structure for the fruit. Fresh even with the ripeness of fruit. Long, juicy and moreish finish. You could approach this in relative youth but it should still age well. (JH)

The 2019 Chambolles-Musigny Les Veroilles has a perfumed bouquet with strawberry and cranberry, touches of ash and embers emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and focused, elegant in style with a poised finish. Probably one of the Domaine earlier drinking cuvées and very winsome.
