Bright, dark red. Reticent but very pure aromas of black cherry and minerals show good pungent lift. Juicy and firm, in a distinctly mineral style, displaying little in the way of easy sweetness. A bit tough compared to the 2015 version from barrel. Finishes with a serious spine of building tannins. Will this wine open and become more pliant with a few years in the bottle?

Back to the very ripe cherry-fruit aroma of Labet’s Clos Vougeot but then less buxom on the palate. Has a cool freshness and dry restraint that I had not anticipated. Fine but confident tannin structure and long finish. Needs time, naturally. (JH)
(from 50-year-old vines on a steep, south-facing slope next to Jadot's Beaune Clos des Couchereaux and close to Prieur's Clos de la Féguine. Bright red. Strong calcaire lift to the aromas of redcurrant and mineral. Less fruity and more mineral-driven than the Clos du Dessus de Marconnets, at once sweeter and more precise in the middle palate. Just a faint dry edge on the finish.
