The 2016 Beaune Les Bressandes 1er Cru offers a mélange of red and black fruit, well defined and focused. Crushed iris flower scents surface with aeration. The palate is very appealing with well-defined raspberry and cranberry fruit, a slight hint of sloes, and a gentle but insistent grip on the finish. The oak here is nicely integrated and it feels reassuringly persistent. Superb. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting in Burgundy.

Very deep crimson. Racy, pure, edgy nose. Extremely chewy but good integrity. No shortage of fruit but for the moment it’s the structure than dominates. This is very much for the future. (JR)
David Croix told me that his 2016 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes was on the lees and not racked, coming from a four-year-old barrel. It has a crisp and tightly wound black cherry and cranberry-scented bouquet with just a touch of incense. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a fine thread of acidity, fresh and tensile with fine mineralité on the finish. This is simply superb!
