The 2021 Beaune Boucherottes 1er Cru was aged in tank rather than oak, as Frédéric Barnier told me it has a certain fragility. It is quite pungent on the nose: earthy, maybe a little animally, light but wild. The palate is balanced with a strictness that I believe derives from its aging. It's fresh but missing some depth on the finish.

The 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Les Boucherottes (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is fleshy and generous, offering up aromas of sweet strawberries and plummy fruit, followed by a medium-bodied, supple, round, open-knit palate.
Cask sample. Pale crimson. Medium-intensity well-knit nose. Very fine and with a really rather beautiful spine of ripe fruit and just the right corset to see it through as it ages. Pure and fine. (JR)

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
