The 2013 Pommard Combes-Dessus comes across as a touch angular and compact in this vintage, a year in which the challenging conditions are impossible to escape. Hints of dark red cherry, plum and spice struggle to emerge, but the 2013 remains on the austere side relative to prior editions.

Light crimson. Broad and mulchy on the nose. Very fresh and lively. Racy and with really grainy texture. Leave for a long time in your cellar... Lots of acidity on the finish still. (JR)
