Perhaps Marsannay’s finest vineyard. Cask sample. Coffee/toasty oak on the nose. Acidity to the fore but there is a sweetness to the dark fruit which promises a great future ahead. Firm tannins, needs another 12–18 months to fully integrate but clearly shows the potential for this site. (AWH)

The 2021 Marsannay Clos du Roy has an open-knit nose with brambly red fruit, though it feels just a tad loose-knit at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins, tea leaf and tobacco. This Marsannay is just missing some concentration on the austere finish.
