Note di degustazione
The 2021 Pommard Les Rugiens-Bas 1er Cru has a skinnier bouquet than Pierre Girardin's Les Rugiens-Bas: light earthy red berry fruit with a background marine influence. It gains more intensity with aeration after 10 minutes, but I wonder if there is minor cork taint. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine body, and is linear but focused. Neatly integrated oak frames the darker fruit tinged with cracked black pepper and graphite towards the rustic finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Pommard Les Rugiens-Bas 1er Cru is Horiot's most satisfying aromatics from this appellation with raspberry, dark cherry and light floral scents. This has much more lift than the others. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fresh acidity, taut and linear with a slightly savoury finish. Not a big Pommard but it opens nicely in the glass.
