Some density and substance here. Dry finish and – just – enough fruit. Pretty astringent finish at the moment. (JR)

The 2015 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru has a simple, rather anodyne bouquet that clearly lacks the complexity of its peers. The palate is uncomplicated, with a touch of bruised apple on the entry. There seems to be a little underripe fruit here, to the detriment of the finish, which pulls up short. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
More power than the Clos des Grands Charrons. Deeper and longer. Zesty, precise fruit and good length. (JH)
The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes-Dessus comes from the single hectare parcel of vines within the namesake lieu-dit. This clearly offers more energy and intensity on the nose than the Charmes with scents of hazelnut and grilled almond, a touch of lemongrass developing with time. The palate is very well balanced with a keen line of acidity, good energy, not as persistent as the 2014 that I tasted last year, but there is certainly good potential.
