The 2021 Corton-Rognet Grand Cru comes from a single parcel. It has a pretty, pastille-like red cherry and raspberry scented nose that just needs a little more amplitude. The palate is quite spicy on the entry and here there is much more delineation and finesse than the aromatics imply, very cohesive and well-knit on the finish. Excellent.

A deft application of wood sets off very fresh red and blue berry fruit aromas that evidence an intense earthiness. There is very fine intensity to the muscular broad-shouldered flavors that flash excellent power and an almost creamy mid-palate that contrasts markedly with the moderately, austere, beautifully long and mouth coating finish. This isn’t quite as concentrated as the Pruliers but it’s finer and should age effortlessly
Tank sample. Bright, clear mid ruby. Bright red cherries, raspberries and redcurrant. Firmness belies the colour. Muscular and powerful. Good length and persistence. Very early days. (MH)
