Tasted from bottle, the 2017 Meursault Les Petits Charrons is one of the racier, more tensile wines in the range, bursting with aromas of white peach and crisp green pear that are complemented by nuances of beeswax, almonds and hazelnuts. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with lovely depth at the core and mouthwatering underlying acids.

In tank since just before the 2018 harvest and will be bottled in March or April. This parcel is between Les Grands Charrons and Les Chevalières lieux-dits. This is straight down the line between rich fruit and steely strictness. Tighter on the palate than the Clos des Ambres, more finesse on the palate. More tension – a coiled spring. High acid but not severe, just incredibly precise. Wonderful length. (JH)
