Meat, blood and bramble fruit. I think that brett may emerge on this, but right now it just has meaty complexity. Quite pinched and drying palate; these are pretty whopping tannins for Pinot Noir! (TJ)

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis Aux Chesaux 1er Cru includes 15% whole bunch and 20% new oak. It has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, blueberry and light crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, firm grip in the mouth and impressive density toward the finish. It is a robust Morey-Saint-Denis, but it will gain more elegance with bottle age.
Firm reduction once again flattens the underlying fruit. The delicious, vibrant and beautifully well-delineated flavors possess a plush mid-palate texture that also contrasts with the compact, raspy and moderately short finish. This too is a bit of a question mark as to how it will react to the bottling so please note that my estimated range offers the benefit of the doubt.
