(not frosted; Nadine Gublin told me she made almost 45 hectoliters per hectare, or a bit more than in 2017; aged in 50% new oak, like the following wines, with the earlier samples getting 20% to 25%): Bright yellow. Deeper, subtly complex nose combines ripe yellow fruits, powdered stone and hazelnut. With its noteworthy flesh and palate presence, this wine fills the mouth without leaving any heaviness. Conveys an impression of rocky power and solid dry extract. This rather dense wine is a bit square today but is still quite unevolved; it will merit a higher score if it develops more thrust with time in bottle.

The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières was produced in exactly the same quantity as in 2015. Matured in 25% new oak, it has a perfumed bouquet with white peach and hazelnut aromas, perhaps needing a little more tension and terroir expression to come through. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine, quite steely opening. It feels harmonious and precise, although I would seek more mineralité to be on display on the finish.
(12.8% natural alcohol; 20% lost to frost): Pale medium-yellow. Expressive nose combines lemon zest, lime, flowers, banana, passion fruit and mango. Then surprisingly strong and brisk on entry, displaying serious mid-palate thickness cut by firm mineral-driven acidity. This rather suave, sexy 2016 finishes with an impression of dusty minerality and lovely lift.
