Note di degustazione
The 2021 Volnay Clos de la Barre 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose with raspberry, cranberry and red plum. It's more withdrawn than the Santenots by comparison. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe dark berry fruit laced with white pepper and bay leaf. With impressive focus on the finish, this fans out nicely and suggests that it will age as well as the Santenots. Excellent.

The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Barre Monopole (Maison Louis Jadot) is a soft, fleshy, medium to full-bodied wine redolent of raspberries, plums, spices and toasty oak. Giving and demonstrative, it will drink well young.
Monopole. Cask sample. Pale garnet. Friendly and sweet on palate entry with good structure. Dry finish. It’s all there to enjoy. Though it will never be a blockbuster … thank goodness! Decent length. (JR)

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
