The 2007 Barolo Villero shows good up-front intensity in its fruit, but the aromatics are quite a bit less polished, with hints of volatility that detract from the wine's balance. The Villero should drink well for the next few years. It is less impressive than I had hoped.

The Villero should drink well for the next few years. It is less impressive than I had hoped. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. It’s hard to know what to expect from Oddero. Castiglione Falletto. Deep ruby with orange-tinged rim. Kitchen spice and cumin at first. Richly fruity and lots of extract. Very young and big. Impressive. (WS)
