Note di degustazione
The 1998 Brunello di Montalcino Manachiara’s barrel aging is perceptible. Notably deeper in color than the regular bottling, its oaky, spicy nose offers plenty of vanilla in addition to the plum fruit. Full, tarry, and well concentrated in flavor, the concentration and length are both very good. Moreover, the tannins on the close are polished and substantial. The overall style is, however, rather international and would benefit from a more specifically Montalcino personality. Importer: Kobrand Corp., New York, NY; tel. (212) 490-9300

Deep, full ruby. Slightly high-toned aromas of roasted dark berries, black licorice, espresso, earth and oak. Juicy, intense and tightly wound, with penetrating dark berry, licorice and oak flavors enlivened by bright acidity. Finishes with firm, oak-powered tannins that just manage to avoid dryness. Very youthful and somewhat musclebound Brunello, in the style of a Napa cabernet from a moderately ripe year. Also tasted: 1998 Brunello di Montalcino.
