Note di degustazione
Lisini's 2001 Brunello di Montalcino was one of my favorite wines of the vintage, and the single-vineyard 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia is even better. This unique, old-vine Brunello presents refined, well-articulated aromatics and complex layers of ripe fruit, tobacco, licorice, spices, menthol and smoke. It offers superb length and silky tannins on the finish in a beautiful style that combines elements of modern and traditional approaches. It also comes across as less heavy than previous recent vintages. The 2001 Ugolaia is already drinking well although it will be even better in another year or two.

Lots of black cherry and spices on the nose. Slightly raisiny. Full-bodied, thick and chewy, with lots of fruit and a long, long finish. Builds on the palate. Muscular and powerful, if a bit traditional in character. Best after 2011. 225 cases made, 30 cases imported.
