Note di degustazione
The 2021 Pommard Epenots 1er Cru has a pleasant nose with brambly red fruit, sous-bois and subtle scents of sage and thyme. It feels a little smudged compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and sweet red cherry and strawberry scents, though it needs a bit more sustain on the finish. Clever use of whole bunches here and it has an openness and honesty that I appreciate. That said, perhaps more for early drinking. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots has turned out nicely, offering up aromas of red berries, orange zest, peonies, cinnamon and fresh mint, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and layered palate with a creamy core of fruit that nicely integrates its whole cluster vinification.
Light ruby. Prettier and more red-fruited than the Platière but still a touch stemmy. Light-bodied, finely tannic. Again, a little austere overall, though the tannins have been handled well so as not to overwhelm the fruit in this lighter vintage. (JH)
