Note di degustazione
Dark and intense, the 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva opens with a brooding blend of ashen stones, rosemary, cedar shavings and nuances of animal musk. It soothes the senses and the soul with its cashmere texture and masses of ripe red and black fruit as inner floral and tobacco tones add further depth. A pretty inner sweetness lingers, contrasted by fresh acidity as the 2006 finishes fully resolved yet full of life. This is a bombshell beauty.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, which I had not tasted before, is a real knock-out. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, spices, menthol and tobacco meld together in a powerful, explosive wine endowed with considerable depth and intensity. Dark and brooding, the 2006 Riserva will provide fabulous drinking for many years. This is a terrific example of the vintage. Le Potazzine's 2006 spent a whopping 60 months in cask.
Heavy bottle! Deep ruby, just beginning to show some age. Savoury, with a hint of leather and mouthfilling, ripe cherry fruit. Bags of extract and huge length. Integrated acidity pulls it together. (WS)
