Note di degustazione
Dark red with ruby highlights. Arresting scents of black fruits, espresso, crushed-rock minerality and bitter chocolate; at once cool and ripe. Showing its oak component today, which Emmanuel Humbert believes is due to the wine's strong rocky component. There's also lovely dark fruit sweetness here along with a powerful tannic spine. This deep but youthfully disjointed wine will need at least five more years of cellaring to resolve its tannins. Still, it presents an almost creamy texture enlivened by the racy acidity of the best 2014s. A violet topnote lifts the finish.

Deep crimson. Like the Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, the fruit smells very ripe here, as if later picked. Unusual smoky flavour, as if it had a peaty Islay influence! More flavour than finesse but the tannins are supple and there’s freshness to balance. (JH)
