Note di degustazione
The 2007 Laville Haut-Brion Blanc is a vintage I have not tasted for some time. It has a neutral nose at first, displaying just a negligible touch of oxidation. Damp straw commingles with yellow plum, granite and apple peel aromas. The palate is, again, surprisingly neutral, quite nutty and smoky, cohering nicely over the course of our lunch. It’s not bad, but not the best that I have tasted from this now-defunct estate. Tasted at the WIMPS X-mas lunch at La Trompette.

83% Sémillon. Slightly smoky. Lemon, mineral and already a hint of lanolin though the wine is still pretty tightly furled. Bright, electric freshness on the palate, though relatively subtle, showing a touch of grapefruit and grass as it opens up. Gently creamy, herbal finish. Long. (JH)
Very pale, bright yellow. Extremely reticent nose hints at lemon and lanolin with air. Densely packed yet weightless, with terrific cut and an oyster shell minerality contributing to an extremely dry impression. Very penetrating, minerally wine in need of extended bottle aging. I wouldn't go anywhere near this now.
