Note di degustazione
The 2017 Maranges emerges from the domaine’s oldest vines, planted in 1943 and 1947, the younger of which is 1er Cru and comprises 45% of the wine. A Burgundy of breadth, the 2017 offers a good bit of intensity while remaining light on its feet. The 10-15% whole clusters add aromatic nuance without overpowering the wine. As is typical of the appellation, Maranges remains a touch rustic, but it is also quite pleasing in its own way.

The 2017 Maranges Village, which includes some premier cru juice, bursts with aromas of strawberries, currant leaf and bergamot. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with powdery structuring tannins and a delicate, charming profile.
One of the few affordable Côte d'Or appellations? Pale rust colour. Slightly charred smell and very light. Very forward, without enormous purity. (JR)
