The 2018 Saint-Aubin Les Champlots 1er Cru has a subtle, fragrant, apple-blossomed- and citrus-scented, Puligny-esque bouquet. The palate is well-balanced with a lightly-spiced entry, quite tangy in the mouth, slightly chalky-textured with a dab of stem ginger and lemongrass towards the lively finish. What a delicious Saint-Aubin, one that just edges past my expectations from barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Satiny and incisive, the 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Champlots offers up aromas of Meyer lemon, white flowers and nutmeg, followed by a medium to full-bodied, bright and nicely structured palate with a tangy spine of acidity and good grip on the finish. This has turned out very well.
Cool nose with lightly oaky notes. Rich and sweet – maybe a bit too much so? Full on. (JR)
The 2018 Saint-Aubin Les Champlots 1er Cru comes from three parcels located close together on marn soils on the slope. I prefer the bouquet compared to Les Frionnes; it displays more delineation and terroir expression, more edginess. The palate is crisp and fresh on the entry with apricot, citrus fruit and light spicy notes, and quite linear in style. The strict finish just needs a little more nervosité to "bat with the big boys." A punter-friendly Saint-Aubin.
