The 2016 Barbaresco Rabajà offers a good bit of aromatic nuance. Here, too, the wine feels a bit light, especially for Rabajà. The 2016 is a very good wine if taken on its own terms, but far less compelling for a Barbaresco made from one of the greatest and most pedigreed vineyards in the world.

Peppermint and fruit tea, orange rind, lemon zest and raspberries are all on display. The medium to full body is wrapped up in a tightly wound pod of grippy tannins, and the finish is medium-chewy. Drink from 2021.
Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Mid ruby. A little leafy and closed on the nose. Very slow to open up. Subtle rather than powerful yet with plenty of concentration. Brooding and with long, chewy tannins. Finely tuned balance and has real potential. (WS)
