Note di degustazione
The 2018 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has one of the more tropical-scented aromatics in this flight. Scents of passion fruit and pineapple drag it away from its Chablis typicité. The palate is well balanced with a lightly honeyed entry, fine acidity, attractive texture and a powerful/burly finish. It does not deliver the intellectual heft that I look for in a Grand Cru and it never really improves in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Dried apricot and lemon peel on the nose with hints of toasted almond and white pepper. It’s medium-to full-bodied with bright acidity. Flavorful with wonderful poise and energy. Taught finish. Drink or hold.
The 2018 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru may well be the finest offering from Droin this vintage. Granted, it does take 30-40 minutes to get motoring, but the aromatics eventually offer wonderful, incisive scents of lemon zest, mirabelle and touches of crushed stone. There is superb focus and precision. The palate is underpinned by a fine line of acidity that you might attribute to a much cooler summer. Vibrant and energetic, this Valmur fans out toward the finish and maintains superb mineralité right to the end. Top class.
