Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2020-2028, Neal Martin, Nov 2018

The 2015 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru offers white peach and light orange pith scents on the nose; hints of pressed flower emerge with time. It is a little exotic in style but still very pretty. The palate is smooth and slightly honeyed in texture, lower in acidity than some of its peers, and touches of caramelized pear and crème brûlée develop toward the forward finish. This was showing more terroir expression the last time I tasted it; at present, it demonstrates some blowsiness. Tasted at the annual Burgfest tasting.

(bottled in January of 2017): Bright, light yellow-gold. Deep, reticent aromas of dried apricot and pineapple lifted by minerals and white pepper. Plush, silky and voluminous, conveying an almost velour-like texture to its yellow stone fruit and pineapple flavors. The wine's sweetness is nicely leavened by acidity and minerality but I would never describe this as classic Clos. Finishes a bit edgy, with a note of marzipan.

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos comes from 40-year-old vines that were cropped at 29 hectoliters per hectare and raised over 12 months in 80% stainless steel and 20% new oak. It has a precise limestone and flint-scented bouquet that is focused and intense. The palate is well balanced with neatly integrated oak. It's quite grippy in the mouth, with admirable depth on the saline finish. There is something a little conservative about this les Clos, but it should age with style. This is a stylish follow-up to the equally impressive 2014 les Clos.
