Looking at the two second wines from this brilliant château, the 2021 Les Tourelles De Longueville is two-thirds Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc, and it’s the first vintage made utilizing 100% gravity in the winemaking process. It has tons of juicy berry fruits as well as some spicy, savory herb notes. Medium-bodied on the palate with a supple, elegant mouthfeel and finely polished tannins, it’s a straight-up pretty, beautifully balanced, elegant wine to drink over the coming decade.
The 2021 Les Tourelles de Longueville has a well-defined bouquet, fresh and estuarine, though it has lost that faint tang of fish oil that I remarked upon from barrel. The palate is well-balanced with pliant tannins and a little more harmony than I noticed previously, lightly spiced with a vivacious finish. Enjoy this over the next decade, possibly more.
The 2021 Les Tourelles de Longueville, the chateau's Merlot-based red, is plump, juicy and expressive. Black cherry, plum, spice, chocolate and leather are front and center. This succulent, supple Pauillac is a real charmer.
