Note di degustazione
In a past life, Sorgente was a Rosso di Montalcino. In its present incarnation, we can now enjoy the Salicutti 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Sorgente with fruit harvested in the little vineyard plot beyond the winery. The bouquet opens to tangy and spicy fruit with forest berry, brambly fruit, cassis and pomegranate. Beyond that first layer, you'll find tar, smoke and cedar wood. This Brunello offers a mild, mid-weight mouthfeel with lean concentration and weight. There is a sour touch on the tannins, and the wine ends on a polished, glossy note.

Salicutti's 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Sorgente is very pretty. Dusty florals give way to fresh strawberry, with hints of white smoke and subtle spice. Soft textures pave the way for polished red berry fruits, gaining richness as the Sorgente glides across the senses, leaving minerals and a coating of fine tannin in its wake. The finish is medium in length, resonating on pretty red fruits and spice, with an acid twang that keeps the mouth watering for more.
Tasted blind. Mid ruby. Tight nose that is a little peppery. Soft, ripe and mouth-filling with just enough tangy acidity to give it tension. Consumer friendly and quite rich but with tangy fruit appearing on the finish. (WS)
