The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Blagny, which like Les Tessons was not affected by frost, has an attractive, lightly honeyed bouquet with hints of orange blossom and dried white flower petals. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite saline in the mouth with a touch of blackcurrant leaf toward the finish. It does not quite possess the length at the moment, but I appreciate the focus and clarity of this Meursault-Blagny, while the dab of spice on the aftertaste is a welcome extra.

Bright lemon-yellow. Pungent aromas of quinine and crushed stone. Tightly wound, saline and very dry, with pungent ginger and mineral flavors dominating. This very penetrating, backward wine finishes with lovely rising length and notes of lemon zest and salty minerality. The crop level here was nearly 50 hectoliters per hectare, as these vines escaped the frost. Bouzereau also noted that these vines gained the equivalent of about ten hectoliters per hectare of production in the week before the harvest as a result of the rainfall.
