Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2023-2050, Neal Martin, Oct 2019

The 2016 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru showed even better here than at the Domaine a few months earlier. It has a more austere but compelling bouquet with dark berry fruit, briary and tobacco aromas, becoming ever more earthier with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, a fine line of acidity, poised and focused. A very detailed and precise finish lingers long in the mouth. This is an outstanding Grand Cru, one beautifully crafted. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Biodynamic. Lightish crimson. Smells elegant with pretty red fruit and a light herbal/stemmy note adding freshness. Even a touch floral. Then a little more savoury on the palate but still so scented. Lovely, relatively delicate but wonderfully persistent and a touch of pepper on the finish. Glorious and very much 2016. Super-fine texture. It seems drinkable now but will surely be worth waiting for. (JH)

The 2016 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru comprises two-thirds whole bunch fruit within the two and a half barrels, as over 50% of the production was lost to frost damage. It has a straightforward bouquet, a little conservative perhaps, with strict red berry fruit, minerals and rose petals. Keep with this because after five or ten minutes it gradually opens and accentuates the floral aspect. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, tensile and focused, not the most complex grand cru from the appellation that you will meet, though nicely balanced with a lightly spiced, elegant finish.
