Note di degustazione
The 2018 Blason de l’Evangile is clearly more intense than the 2017 on the nose with copious blackberry, boysenberry, truffle and light sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, quite "solid" towards the finish with more grip than expected. It is a little "serious" but it should soften by the time of bottling.

Yields are down considerably at Château l’Evangile due to mildew, yet both of their wines are terrific. The second wine of Château l’Evangile, the 2018 Blason De l'Evangile is a blend of 60/40 Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It’s a medium to full-bodied, sexy yet also elegant Pomerol that has lots of ripe black fruits, violets, tobacco, and spice-laced aromas and flavors. It’s nicely textured, has moderate tannins, and a great finish. It should easily be an outstanding wine, and I’d be thrilled to drink it.
60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc (more than usual, including fruit from young vines not deemed good enough yet for the grand vin). pH 3.9. Barrel sample. Darkest crimson. There's a light Cabernet Franc fragrance on the nose, some pencil lead (more Cabernet Franc than usual). Juicy freshness with attractive sour-cherry fruit and the oak well in check. Supple, very drinkable with just a hint of milk chocolate on the finish. (JH)
A very juicy second wine with chocolate, blackberries and hints of espresso on the nose and palate. Medium to full body, firm and chewy tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Shows drive and density. Relatively soft and polished. Second wine of LâEvangile.
