Note di degustazione
The 2018 Meursault Les Luchets shrugs off the warmth of that year’s summer with an almost clinical bouquet in terms of freshness and delineation, just the perfect subtle reduction lending tension and frisson. Hints of grilled hazelnut and blood orange manifest as the bottle opens over an hour. The palate is beautifully balanced with plenty of tension and energy. Frankly, this Village Cru is easily a Premier Cru in terms of complexity, with an almost penetrating, potent finish. Superb.

The 2018 Meursault Luchets has turned out nicely, unwinding in the glass with hints of minty orchard fruit, fresh bread, oyster shells, dried white flowers and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied and elegantly fleshy but precise, it's seamless and elegant, with fine mid-palate amplitude and a beautifully defined finish.
This is Roulot’s biggest holding – more than 1 ha (2.5 acres). Some vines planted 2006, remainder 50–60 years old. 10% new oak. Currently in tank on full lees. It seems more oaky than the 10% new might suggest, lots of cedary spice. Rich and spicy and the oak seems to dominate a bit on the palate, perhaps the fruit is less intense on the mid palate. Leaner and stonier than the Vireuils. But long. Leaner and more direct. Sinewy and long with a salty finish. (JH)
