2019 Savigny Les Beaune Les Vergelesses La Bataillere

The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Bataillère 1er Cru is relatively dark in colour. It has a straightforward, clean and pure nose with scents of blackberry and bilberry, quite Pommard-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black and red fruit. Quite a simple Savigny considering that this is a Premier Cru and maybe a little short on the finish, it is redeemed by decent freshness and its sappy finish. It just does not engage like the best Savigny-lès-Beaunes this vintage.
