The 2020 Pommard Epenots 1er Cru appears to sport some stem addition on the nose that slightly occludes the fruit. I might have added fewer bunches, though it might assimilate with time. That comes through on the palate - a lot of stem addition that dictates the flavor profile of crunchy black fruit, hints of tobacco and brown spices. There's a good wine here, but it leans too much on the stems. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Aromas of cherries, sweet red berries, orange rind, peonies and warm spices introduce the 2020 Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated wine that's lively and seamless, with powdery structuring tannins and an elegant, integrated profile. It's a worthy successor to the superb 2019.
